When it comes to seasonal foods, fig season might be our favorite. Yeah, yeah, we know every basic girl out there is obsessed with pumpkin spice season, and we are too, but you know we always gotta be a little different.

Plus, figs are kind of a part of our culture and are a little nostalgic for us, too. They’re grown in Italy, specifically in Sicily, which is where our grandparents are from, so we had them a lot when we hung out at grandma and grandpas.

Figs are also filled with beautifying vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Not to mention they taste sweet and look beautiful, making them the perfect little...

We're going through a little lettuce wrap phase right now. They are quick and easy, really light and healthy, yet so good and satisfying! So many different combos or flavors you could go with... and these, you haveee to try. The sauce for the tempeh is everything: a little spicy, a little sweet, and a little tangy. You will love it!

Plus, becuase we used tempeh, these are vegan and packed with plant-based protein. If you're not a tempeh fan, do this with firm organic tofu or seitan. If you're not a fan of any of that, and you are not vegan, apply the same recipe to diced chicken. No problemo.

Ok, we pretty much ALW...

We are all about the cool, crisp, and refreshing summer produce. We talk about eating seasonally a lot, and one reason why is because it gives you more variety (both in flavor and nutrient content) and brings excitement back to the food you’re eating. It allows you to shift your diet, maybe get creative with your cooking, and keep healthy meals/salads fun and delicious so you don’t get bored.

This salad looks beautiful, but the combination of textures and flavors is amazing, too! You could eat it all on its own, add a choice of protein to it if you want (grilled shrimp would be perfect), or eat it...

We don’t fully prescribe 100 percent to any one diet lifestyle (i.e. vegan, keto, paleo), but we do love following a generally plant-based and, often, Mediterranean diet. We really enjoy all types of food and pull different great parts of various different “diet types” to eat in a way that works best for us, and one way of eating that we think is really beneficial is “Mediterranean” or “Blue Zone.”

Blue Zones are places in the world where the most people live to be 100 or more years. Parts of Japan, Italy, Greece, etc are included (if you haven’t noticed we also love making Asian and Italian recipes!). More spe...

We are BIG carrot cake fans (especially Jill, it’s her favorite). We have been waiting to make a carrot cake for the blog, and Easter seemed like the perfect occasion. We wanted this carrot cake to be legit— dense yet fluffy, right amount of sweetness, with creamy, thick frosting. But we also wanted it to be “on brand”— a carrot cake that tastes amazing but leaves out gluten, dairy, and huge amounts of sugar.

We searched for inspo across the Google machine, Pinterest, and some of our favorite bloggers (Minimalist Baker and Ambitious Kitchen, namely). We found good stuff, but some were too complicated, u...

We always love finding new ways to incorporate plant-based protein into our meals. What we find works best when it comes to doing this, is when it’s something that can be batch-cooked so that you can grab and add to your meals throughout the week. In this case, it’s falafel!

This falafel is gluten free and packed with protein and flavor. They’re quick and easy to make and are a great with several different meals. For example, you could whip up a Mediterranean-inspired bowl for dinner or add it to your salad for lunch! Pair it with our creamy tahini dressing to make your meal have even more protein, some heal...

If we lost you at jackfruit, hear us out. Jackfruit happens to be an awesome substitute for shredded chicken or pulled pork, because it's texture is similar, and when not yet ripe or "young", it's practically flavorless. If you think it sounds too foreign or complicated, don't worry, we have an incredibly fool-proof hack that makes this recipe quick and easy, even for someone who's never seen a jackfruit. You can simply buy Upton's Naturals barbecue jackfruit (they also carry original/unflavored as well as other flavors and typically are found by other meat alternatives at the grocery store). We like this brand b...

Although we kinda want to boycott the Super Bowl (geaux Saints), we’re not *that* petty, so we’re coping by making some DELISH and healthy game day food. We whipped up some Asian slaw that we think you’ll love. While this recipe is perfect to bring to a Super Bowl party, it's great to make to have at home any day, too. Have it as a side with barbecue or grilled chicken, on top a salad or piece of salmon, or just all on its own. We also have a recipe for BBQ jackfruit tacos, that goes perfectly with this slaw!

It’s vegan and has none of the crap you’d find in store-bought coleslaw, plus it involves n...

We’ve been trying to master a gluten free bread that’s also vegan and low sugar. After experimenting with various combinations of flax “eggs”, apple sauce, almond butter, and anything and everything else we thought might make the bread hold up, it kept coming out mushy! Until this beauty.

Oat flour might be the key to creating a bread that holds up nicely, especially if you’re making it vegan (without eggs). Coconut flour and almond flour tend to absorb and hold a lot of moisture, so by using some oat and some almond flour and no flax egg, we created a recipe that tastes amazing and is dense and fluffy. Enou...

There's not much better than the smell of warm cookies on a cold day... or any day, really. These chocolate chunk ginger cookies are that perfect, fresh baked cookie consistency-- slightly crispy on the edges, soft and chewy in the middle. They're incredibly simple to make, they just require a few clean ingredients, they're low in sugar, and they *happen* to be vegan and gluten free. EVERYONE WINS!

We've tried, sometimes succeeding and sometimes failing, in making vegan treats. When vegan and gluten free, sometimes ratio and consistency is hard, and almost always there's a flax egg, almond butter, or hard-to-find,...
