We always love finding new ways to incorporate plant-based protein into our meals. What we find works best when it comes to doing this, is when it’s something that can be batch-cooked so that you can grab and add to your meals throughout the week. In this case, it’s falafel!

This falafel is gluten free and packed with protein and flavor. They’re quick and easy to make and are a great with several different meals. For example, you could whip up a Mediterranean-inspired bowl for dinner or add it to your salad for lunch! Pair it with our creamy tahini dressing to make your meal have even more protein, some heal...

Although we kinda want to boycott the Super Bowl (geaux Saints), we’re not *that* petty, so we’re coping by making some DELISH and healthy game day food. We whipped up some Asian slaw that we think you’ll love. While this recipe is perfect to bring to a Super Bowl party, it's great to make to have at home any day, too. Have it as a side with barbecue or grilled chicken, on top a salad or piece of salmon, or just all on its own. We also have a recipe for BBQ jackfruit tacos, that goes perfectly with this slaw!

It’s vegan and has none of the crap you’d find in store-bought coleslaw, plus it involves n...

You officially have the newest, most delicious addition to Taco Tuesday, and it involves avocado. And if it involves tacos and avocado, you can't go wrong, right? We can't decide if this is a chunky salsa, a pico, or maybe like pico and guac had a baby, but we're just gonna go with avocado pico de gallo for simplicity’s sake. But this isn't your average pico.

First off, it's pretty to look at-- super colorful and filled with vibrant ingredients. But most importantly, the flavor is unique and DELICIOUS. Jalapeño to give it a nice kick, some lime for refreshing citrus, and a little coconut nectar...

It's been almost exactly a year since I made my very first trip to Europe. A life-changing trip to Spain and Italy (Barcelona, Florence, Rome, and Cinque Terre, to be exact) that I will always remember. Something in particular I've thought about since I left those beautiful, historical cities were... these matcha banana pancakes.

I know, right. How on-brand (or maybe basic) that in a place filled with breath-taking scenery, incredible architecture, and traditional Spanish and Italian cuisine, I remember matcha pancakes. Ok, ok TRUST ME. I fondly remember walking in the cobblestone streets, stumbling upon little ch...

If you’ve never had a blondie before, first off, we’re sorry to hear that. But basically, they’re the vanilla cousin of a brownie. SO GOOD. Of course, we had to find a way to have a delicious blondie without it being loaded with refined sugar, butter, or processed flour. So we made these.

We made this recipe not so incredibly healthy that it’s hardly dessert but healthy enough so that you can feel good eating it (and afterwards). These are a great option for a sweet treat without completely getting you off track or eating far off from your typical diet.

We personally will experience bloat and sometimes a flare in...

Pesto is one of those things that just makes things taste better. Most pesto recipes are made up mostly of oil, and second to that basil and pine nuts. There's traditionally some Parmesan cheese in there, too. No wonder it's delicious, right?

And what is pesto typically paired with? Pasta. Yup. So, consuming pesto would likely entail lots of oil, some cheese, and some pasta. If we did that too often we might have a clogged artery or two and we'd certainly feel some belly bloat.

We're not cool with swearing off any foods that we think are delicious, pesto included, and we want to have super delicious foods frequent...

I don't know about you, but we could literally dive into a bowl of this veggie-loaded lentil pasta. And did we hear pesto?  If there's pesto, we're in. This recipe is seriously one of the EASIEST we have on our blog, and it's so so good.

Bare Nutrition is all about finding ways to say yes to all foods. PASTA included (We're Italian, c'mon we practicaly have pasta in our blood). We also are all about finding ways to take comfort foods with virtually no nutritional content (aka starchy, refined carbs) and making them nutritionally dense meals. Exhibit A: this lentil pasta.

Lentil pasta is the best thing since sliced...

Our grandma is arguably the best cook we know. She's a Sicilian immigrant and has a life-long repertoire of authentic, AMAZING Italian recipes and secret sauces. Many of her recipes aren't written down and have only been passed down by spending time in the kitchen and learning first-hand. One of those, are her famous lemon twist cookies.

They are melt in your mouth, soft, slightly sweet, and seriously addicting. When we come over to her house, we check the cookie jar hoping she made a big batch (yes! She actually kept the cookies in a cookie jar.).

So, a few years ago we sat down with her and had her tell...

With every smoothie comes an opportunity to work in MORE VEGGIES. More veggies mean more of all the good stuff: vitamins, amino acids, minerals, phytonutrients, and enzymes. All working to hydrate you, clear your skin, better your digestion, cleanse you, and nourish you.

We often push our clients to increase their vegetable intake by getting them into the habit of asking themselves, “Where are the veggies?” at every meal. So any excuse to add ‘em, add ‘em.

Aside from veggies, smoothies are a great vehicle for tons of superfoods and adaptogens, too. Search “superfoods” or “adaptogens” for more info on...

Who doesn't like mac n cheese? Better yet, who doesn't like baked mac n cheese? It's a classic comfort food. Once the seasons change and the temperature begins to drop, we start craving more comforting foods. By "we," I don't just mean Rachel and me, but I mean all of us. It's an actual, biological thing. Growing up, it was something we always had at Thanksgiving and a few other special occasions, but being that it's so rich, it was not ever frequent. Typical baked mac n cheese is made with macaroni pasta, loads of cheese, butter, flour, and milk or cream. So, how can we enjoy this delicious comfort food mo...
