Who needs a probiotic, and why?

Pretty much everyone can benefit from taking a probiotic. Our minds immediately go to digestion or maybe digestive "issues," such as constipation, diarrhea, IBS, Chron's, etc... however, there are MANY other reasons to take a probiotic.

Our gut flora, aka our microbiome, can be a mirror to our overall health. The bacteria in our gut an have an impact on our ability to fight infections, detoxify, digest food, and assimilate nutrients. Ever get a random breakout in between your eyebrows or forehead? What about the cheeks? THE WORST. You may start to notice that you get those after traveling or after a weekend where you ate out more-- both situations where you may have had more “rich” foods. Same applies to when you feel like your skin is more dull, the bags under your eyes are showing a bit more, maybe you have some dark circles or discoloration. What have you been eating and drinking? It's likely most of the #BareBabes reading this have tried drinking apple cider vinegar, incorporating turmeric or turmeric supplements, or tried adding things like cinnamon, ginger, or cayenne into your diet, because we've all heard about the supposed benefits. It's likely almost all of us have also gone to the local juice shop and ordered a wellness shot (a $3-6 shot, mind you!) when we've felt... let's say... lackluster, under the weather, dull, or just to detoxify or cleanse.
